SEO and AI visibility for restaurants and cafes
Updated · 3 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
Diners search by cuisine, dish, occasion and area, often on a phone, and decide in seconds from photos, reviews, hours and the menu. Restaurants that win keep their hours and menu accurate everywhere, have a fast mobile site with the menu as real text, and earn genuine reviews. ParSEO tracks those local searches and asks AI assistants the questions diners ask.
Key points
- Menus as text, not only images or PDFs, so Google and AI can read them.
- Hours must be right everywhere, including holidays.
- Dish and occasion searches are often easier to win than 'best restaurant'.
- Real photos and replied-to reviews drive choice.
How diners search
Diners search for a cuisine, a dish or an occasion plus an area: "biryani near me", "rooftop cafe Koramangala", "veg thali in Ahmedabad", "birthday dinner places Bandra". Most of these searches happen on a phone, close to when they want to eat.
What AI assistants say
When someone asks an assistant for "a quiet cafe in Indiranagar to work from", it names places with clear descriptions, recent reviews and consistent details. If your menu is only a photo and your hours differ between your site and Google, the assistant has little reliable text to go on.
What ParSEO does for you
- Checks Google every day for the searches that matter to you, with Search Console's own numbers beside each one.
- Asks the AI assistants every week (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI and Perplexity) the questions your customers ask, and records who they name.
- Reads your competitors' sites, so you see who outranks you, why, and what they charge where they publish prices.
- Fixes your real site with your OK: clearer titles and descriptions, structured data, missing pages. Every change can be undone for 14 days.
- Writes blog posts from your own answers, with sources, at most two a week.
- Proves each change: when it went live, when Google read it, and your position before and after, with dates.
Where to start
- Put your menu on your site as text, with prices, not just as an image or PDF.
- Keep hours identical on your site, Google Business Profile and delivery apps, and update them for holidays.
- Create pages for what you're known for: a signature dish, private dining, catering.
- Add Restaurant structured data with your cuisine, address, hours and menu link.
- Reply to reviews, especially critical ones, calmly and specifically.
Questions diners want answered before they come
- Is there parking, and is the place easy to reach?
- Do you take reservations, and for how many people?
- Is it vegetarian or Jain friendly? Are there vegan options?
- Is it good for families, groups, work meetings or a date?
- What does a meal for two cost?
- What time does the kitchen close?
Put these answers on your site in plain text. They're exactly what diners ask AI assistants, and what Google shows in local results.
Mistakes that send diners elsewhere
- Holiday closures not updated on Google, so people arrive at a closed door.
- A website that is only a photo gallery, with no menu text, address or hours.
- Different phone numbers on the website, Google and delivery apps.
- Ignoring reviews that mention a specific problem you have since fixed; reply and say so.
What to measure in the first 90 days
- Searches for your cuisine, signature dish and area in Search Console.
- Calls, direction requests and website clicks from your Business Profile.
- Whether AI assistants name you for the occasions and dishes you're known for.
An outline for your home page
- Your restaurant name, area and cuisine in the first line.
- Hours for every day, including when the kitchen closes.
- A link to the menu as text, with prices.
- Reservations: how to book, and for how many people.
- Practical details: parking, seating, vegetarian and Jain options, whether children are welcome.
- Directions and a map link.
- A short paragraph on what you're known for, in your own words.
Questions to track in AI assistants
- "Best [cuisine] restaurant in [area]"
- "Cafe in [area] good for working on a laptop"
- "Family restaurant near [landmark] with parking"
- "Where to get [signature dish] in [city]"
- "Restaurant in [area] for a group of 15"
Note which places are named, what reasons the assistant gives, and whether its details about you (hours, prices, location) are right.
Questions people ask
Do delivery app listings help my own site rank?
They help confirm your details and can rank on their own. Your own site still matters for direct bookings, catering and accurate information AI assistants can read.
Should my menu be a PDF?
Offer the PDF if you like, but put the menu on the page as text too. Text can be read and quoted by Google and AI answers; images mostly can't.
Can ParSEO post on Instagram?
No. ParSEO works on your website, Google and AI answers. It doesn't manage social media.
