NAP (name, address, phone)
Updated · 2 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
A business's name, address and phone number: details that should be identical everywhere the business is listed.
NAP stands for name, address and phone number. Search engines and AI assistants compare these details across your website, your Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles to confirm which business is which.
Small differences (an old phone number, "Road" versus "Rd", a previous address) make it harder to be sure. Pick one exact version, use it everywhere, and update every listing you control when something changes. Many people extend this to hours, website address and services.
In practice
In practice, write down your exact business name, address and phone number once, in the form you want everywhere. Then go through your website, Google Business Profile, directories, maps and social profiles, and make each match. Repeat the check whenever you move, change your number or open a branch.
