Connect Google Analytics 4 (read-only)
Updated · 2 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
ParSEO reads Google Analytics 4 through the same read-only service address it uses for Search Console. In GA4, add the address as a Viewer under Property access management, then copy the property ID from Property details, paste it into ParSEO and press Check access. ParSEO then shows real visits, including those sent by AI assistants.
Key points
- Role: Viewer, which is read-only.
- ParSEO needs the numeric property ID, not the G- measurement ID.
- Visits from ChatGPT and other AI assistants are shown on their own.
- No Analytics yet? ParSEO Edge can add the Google tag to every page.
Step by step
Copy ParSEO's address
In ParSEO, open Settings, then Connectors, and copy the address on the Analytics card.
Open access management
In Google Analytics, open Admin, then Property access management.
Add a user
Press the plus button, then Add users. Paste the address, set the role to Viewer, and press Add.
Copy the property ID
In Admin, open Property details and copy the PROPERTY ID.
Paste it and check
Paste the property ID in ParSEO and press Check access.
Why connect it
Rankings show whether people can find you. Analytics shows whether they arrive, and from where, including visits sent by ChatGPT and other AI assistants.
Property ID or measurement ID?
The measurement ID starts with G- and belongs in your site's tag. ParSEO needs the numeric property ID from Admin, then Property details.
No Google Analytics yet
Create a GA4 property in Google Analytics, then let ParSEO Edge add the Google tag with your G- ID to every page, or paste it into your site's head yourself. Coded sites: ask your web person to add the tag to every page, then publish.
Questions people ask
Can ParSEO change my Analytics settings?
No. With the Viewer role it can read reports, nothing else.
Do I need Search Console too?
They answer different questions. Search Console shows how you appear in Google; Analytics shows visits. ParSEO uses both when connected.
