Integration
Connect Google Search Console and GA4 to ParSEO
Updated · 2 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
ParSEO reads your Google numbers through one read-only service address. In Search Console you add it as a Restricted user; in Google Analytics 4 you add it as a Viewer and paste your property ID into ParSEO. It can read clicks, impressions and visits, including visits sent by AI assistants, but can't change anything in your Google accounts.
Key points
- One read-only address for both: Search Console (Restricted) and GA4 (Viewer).
- Only a Search Console Owner can add users.
- GA4 also needs your property ID, from Admin, then Property details.
- Remove the address in Google at any time and access stops.
At a glance
How it connects
A read-only Google service account
What ParSEO can change
- Nothing: the access is read-only
- ParSEO reads Search Console clicks, impressions and positions for your searches
- ParSEO reads GA4 visits, including visits sent by ChatGPT and other AI assistants
If you leave ParSEO
Nothing to undo on your site. Remove ParSEO's address from Search Console and Google Analytics, and its access ends. Your data was always in your own Google accounts.
Set up ParSEO on Google Search Console and GA4
Copy ParSEO's address
In ParSEO, open Settings, then Connectors, and copy the address shown on the Search Console card.
Add it in Search Console
In Search Console: Settings, Users and permissions, ADD USER. Paste the address, set Permission to Restricted, and press ADD. Only an Owner can add users.
Check Search Console access
Back in ParSEO, press Check access.
Add it in Google Analytics
In GA4: Admin, Property access management, the plus button, Add users. Paste the address, set the role to Viewer, and press Add.
Paste your property ID
In GA4: Admin, Property details, copy the PROPERTY ID. Paste it in ParSEO and press Check access.
Why connect Google
Search Console is Google's own record of how your site appears in search: which searches show you, how often, and how often people click. Google Analytics 4 shows what visitors do after they arrive, including visits sent by AI assistants. ParSEO shows both beside its own daily ranking checks, so every number has Google's own figure next to it.
Read-only, by design
ParSEO uses one service account with read-only scopes for Search Console and Analytics. It can read your numbers; it can't change your Google settings, users or data.
If Check access fails
- Search Console: make sure you added the address to the same property ParSEO checks (a Domain property or the exact URL prefix), and that the person adding it is an Owner.
- GA4: make sure the property ID is the number from Property details, not a measurement ID starting with G-.
What stays if you leave
Nothing is installed. Remove the address in both Google products and ParSEO can no longer read anything.
Questions people ask
Can ParSEO change my Search Console or Analytics settings?
No. The access is read-only: Restricted in Search Console and Viewer in Google Analytics.
I don't have Search Console yet. What do I do?
Set up a property first in Search Console and verify the site. ParSEO Edge can add Google's verification code to your home page for you.
Is my GA4 measurement ID the same as the property ID?
No. The measurement ID starts with G- and goes in your site's tag. ParSEO needs the numeric property ID from Admin, then Property details.
