Google Search Console

The short answer
Google's free tool that shows how a site performs in Google Search: searches, clicks, positions and indexing problems.
Search Console is Google's own report on your site. It shows the searches your pages appeared for, impressions, clicks and average position (the Performance report), which pages are indexed and why others aren't (Page indexing), sitemap status, and issues such as manual actions or security problems.
You add a site as a Domain property (verified with a DNS record, covering every version and subdomain) or a URL-prefix property. Data starts from when you add it, so set it up early.
It shows only Google Search, only your own site, and only searches where you appeared.
In practice
In practice, set it up once with an account the business owns, add your web person or agency as a user, and check it weekly: the Performance report for searches and clicks, Page indexing for missing pages, and URL inspection after you change an important page. The trend over weeks matters more than any single day's numbers.
