The Authority Score is 0 to 100: how much the web trusts a website, judged from the links pointing to it and lowered when many look like spam.
What the Authority Score is
ParSEO's Authority Score runs from 0 to 100 and shows how much the web trusts a website, judged from the links pointing to it. When many of those links look like spam, the score is lowered, because spam inflates raw link strength and Google discounts it.
How to read it
- 70 and up: an industry leader.
- 50 to 69: strong.
- 30 to 49: established.
- Under 30: still growing. Most new local businesses start here.
Why it matters
Websites with more trusted links usually find it easier to reach page one. It is not a Google number: Google does not publish one. Use it to compare yourself with the websites you compete with, and to see whether earning links should be on your list.
What to do about a low score
Earn links from real local sources first: your suppliers, your local association, news and directories you belong to. Avoid bought links; they can lower the score.
Questions people ask
Is this Google's score?
No. Google does not publish an authority score. This is ParSEO's own, built from link data, and it is best used to compare websites.
Why is a big site's score not 100?
Few sites reach the top. The score is a scale across the whole web, so 70 is already a leader.
How often can I check?
Five live checks a day from one connection. A site checked recently shows its saved answer.
